Our unique Filipino massage, includes a combination of massage techniques, acupressure and stretching from the toes to the roots of the hair. During the massage, oil is applied to the entire body.

Healing in the Philippines: Pinoy Hilot

The Philippines is known for its unique healing art called Pinoy Hilotwhich combines indigenous practices with spiritual aspects. Practitioners are called *Manghihilot (“masseur”, “folk masseur”, “folk chiropractor”), or also *Magpapaanak, which is a healer who visits pregnant women and performs a ritual called suob, a form of “aroma therapy“. These therapists can locate imbalances in the body that are causing discomfort or even pain. Using this method, the therapist can locate the exact points where finger pressure needs to be applied to release the client’s tension.

Thanks to this method, the therapist can precisely locate the points on which to apply pressure with his fingers in order to release the client’s tension. Some mothers undergo Hilot therapy in the pregnancy massage and postnatal period to relieve their body.

Comparison with Traditional Thai Massage

This Filipino massage is not as widespread in the Czech Republic as traditional Thai massagebut its elements bring many other stimulating effects to our body. Many of our regular clients have confirmed that this massage is even better than Thai massage in some ways. Many clients are unable to fully relax during a traditional Thai massage because they are afraid of the elements of Indian yoga, which involve stretching the entire body.

One of the theories about the origin of Hilot is the observation of natural healing methods and the instinctive rubbing of sore spots on the body, which led to the development of specific techniques and knowledge about the human body. These practices have been passed down from generation to generation and have been enriched by the influences of Chinese, Indian, Islamic and Western medicine.

During Hilot, coconut oil is used to massage and diagnose imbalances in the body through temperature differences and muscle tension. The process begins with a ritual invocation in which natural and spiritual forces are invoked, and ends with a thank you after the massage.

Hilot is not only a physical therapy, but also a spiritual experience that promotes overall health and well-being. This technique is becoming increasingly popular in the Philippines and is gaining attention in modern wellness centers around the world.

  • Lie down on the massage table before starting the massage
