Hammam ritual

The Hammam Ritual is a traditional cleansing treatment that includes washing, steaming, deep cleansing, exfoliation and massage. Today, hammam is very popular and is considered an important method of cleansing the body and mind.

Hammam at Eden’s Garden begins in the sauna, where your body indulges in the radiant heat that softens the skin. The heat promotes perspiration, dilates the pores from which toxins are subsequently flushed out and the skin is deeply cleansed. The result is the brighter and softer skin, but the high temperatures also relax the muscles and mind. When the sauna session is over, an attendant called Tellak will invite you to the ritual place where the treatment is performed.

The hammam attendant will let you lie down on a heated stone bed. The therapist will cleanse your whole body with a special exfoliating glove called Kessa. Then, you will be wrapped in a rich soap foam and massaged thoroughly with the soap. During the treatment, your body will be warmed with warm water. The scrub removes the surface and dead skin layers and, together with a relaxing massage, is a perfect cleansing of the body and mind.

Finally, your body is treated with a special salt scrub with aroma oil, which is applied to your hands and feet. Afterwards, you will be washed with water followed by the massage. After this ritual, it will be great to relax with a drink – we will recommend Turkish tea or homemade lemonade.
